Quality, safety & sustainability

We leave nothing to chance when it comes to you, your family and your holiday

Energy Security

Due to the numerous queries, we would like to clarify herewith that we heat exclusively with wood chips. We ensure electricity generation through our combined heat and power plants and the use of liquid gas, which is a by-product of petrol production. We have also installed photovoltaic systems on free roof areas to generate additional electricity in summer. Furthermore, last year we completely renovated the building's façade to reduce energy consumption as much as possible.  For this reason, we are in no way affected by the gas shortage caused by the Russian crisis.

Tested safety

High quality & reliable safety standards

To guarantee this, we are certified by several renowned inspection bodies and arrange for regular inspections of all technical and electrical appliances and cables in the hotel.

Quality at the Feldberger Hof

Our certifications

  • "O.K. für Kids" seal of quality for child-friendly services and products (TÜV Nord and German Child Protection Association)
  • "Service Quality Level 1" seal of quality (service quality inspection body - Baden-Wuerttemberg)
  • "Service Quality Level 2" seal of quality (service quality inspection body - Baden-Wuerttemberg) since spring 2010
  • DEKRA product certification of all play equipment and playgrounds
  • Awarded the title of the most family-friendly hotel

Tested equipment

The environment says thank you

Germany’s 1st climate-neutral hotel

The Feldberger Hof has been committed to sustainability since 2007 and thus plays a pioneering role in the area of environmental protection. In cooperation with ClimatePartner, Germany’s highest located four-star hotel became climate neutral.

Extensive modifications made it possible to prevent or significantly reduce the creation of the greenhouse gas CO2. The hotel is heated with a modern block heating station that uses wood shavings. These measures resulted in savings of over 600 tonnes of CO2 and 300,000 litres of heating oil.

The climate protection package is rounded off with excellent connections to the public transport sector, with free use of buses and trains for guests, as well as other smaller measures.

Thomas Banhardt, owner of the Feldberger Hof: “Our commitment to climate protection should make people think but also encourage them to emulate us and raise awareness among our families.”

Climate protection questions

What specific measures has the Familotel Feldberger Hof taken over the last few years to reduce CO2 emissions?

In the past few years, the entire Feldberger Hof has been redesigned to bring it in line with the latest technical and environmentally friendly standards. Energy consumption has been significantly reduced through intelligent building automation and other saving measures e.g. the use of energy-saving lamps. The Feldberger Hof gets its energy from Badenova AG & Co. KG. Whereas, on average, 63% of energy in Germany is still generated conventionally – primarily in coal-fired, gas power and nuclear power stations – Badenova has been generating its green energy without nuclear power or coal-fired power for a long time.

What further measures have been implemented?

  • Installation of a thermal power station that uses wood shavings
  • Intelligent, computer-controlled building automation
  • Free use of public transport for our guests with the CONUS card
  • Some products are sourced regionally
  • Approx. 70% of employees live next to the hotel
  • Power from renewable energy (water and sun)
  • Thermal insulation on the glass facade and facade – up to 85% of the heat is retained in the hotel apartments
  • Timer switches on the lights in the personnel department and all warehouses
  • Long-distance heating connection to all buildings
  • Lighting systems converted to ECG lights with presence detectors in the kitchen, basement, hotel corridors, hotel rooms – energy savings of up to 80%
  • General lighting converted to Osram saver light sources – energy saving of 30-40%
  • Hot water boiler with heat recovery
  • Partially water-free urinals in the public WCs
  • Tumble dryers are connected to the preheating system
  • The water for cleaning the swimming pool filters is reused as waste water for public toilets
  • Cooling systems/cold stores are incorporated into the swimming pool via the heat recovery

How high is the overall CO2 output in the hotel?

Thanks to the green energy from Badenova AG & Co. KG, which is generated purely from hydropower, the hotel generates 0 tonnes of CO2. The consumption per overnight guest is approximately 6 kg. As a general rule, between 30 and 60 kg are created per guest. The Feldberger Hof neutralises the "small", unavoidable residual emissions of approx. 700 tonnes by investing in high-quality climate protection projects.
