An overview of the right activities on the Feldberg for every type of holidaymaker:

For families, the Wichtelpfad, Anton’s wooden ball track at the Feldbergbahn valley station and the tree-top adventure park right behind our hotel are the best choices. At the tree-top adventure park, children as short as 100 cm (accompanied by an adult) are allowed to climb around in the Kids’ Park.

For nature lovers, a visit to Feldsee and the Feldbergsteig is a must. This is the 12-kilometre-long premium trail through the Feldberg Nature Reserve, followed by a stop for refreshments at the Baldenweger Hütte.

For photographers, the best vantage points are at the Bismarck Monument on the Seebuck, on the cliff edge above Feldsee and on the tower platform. The light is at its most beautiful in the morning and at sunset, often with a sea of mist over the valleys.

For active holidaymakers, the Feldbergsteig combines challenging hiking with a stop at a mountain hut. Added attractions include the adult climbing courses in the climbing forest and, in winter, the slopes right on the doorstep.

For guests who prefer a more leisurely pace, the Feldberg Railway, the Feldberg Tower and the Feldberg Garden at the Haus der Natur are ideal – all within easy reach without the need for a long hike.

What does the perfect day on the Feldberg look like?

In the morning, you’ll glide up to the Seebuck in one of the cosy 8-seater cabins on the Feldbergbahn and enjoy the sweeping views over the Black Forest from the Feldberg Tower. There, your walk begins, taking you past the Bismarck Monument towards the summit, accompanied throughout by impressive panoramic views.

At lunchtime, stop off at one of the charming mountain huts or enjoy a picnic with a stunning view of the surrounding mountains. In the afternoon, the path leads you down to the idyllic Feldsee, where you can round off the day relaxing by the water. If you’re travelling with younger children, opt instead for the enchanting Wichtelpfad - a lovingly designed adventure trail that guides families playfully through nature.

Back at the hotel, our water park with its five water worlds awaits as a reward. In winter, the Feldberg transforms into an ideal ski slope - with the added bonus that the lifts start right outside our hotel door (approx. 100 m away), allowing you to hit the slopes straight away.

Which attractions around the Feldberg are often overlooked?

Many visitors are familiar with Titisee and Schluchsee, but tend to overlook the quieter destinations. The Menzenschwand Waterfalls rush through a wild and romantic valley in the Southern Black Forest Nature Park and remain pleasantly peaceful even during the holiday season. The Todtnau Waterfall, one of Germany’s highest natural waterfalls, plunges spectacularly into the depths and, together with the Blackforestline, offers an impressive experience of nature: first, feel the roar of the waterfall up close, then enjoy the view over the valley and the Black Forest panorama from the suspension bridge.

In the Ravennaschlucht gorge, you’ll walk beneath the famous railway viaduct. And if you’re looking for a secluded spot near the Feldberg, you’ll find it in the St. Wilhelmer Valley and at the Zastler Loch, where on some days you’ll encounter more cows than walkers.

A grey day on the Feldberg is not a day wasted. At the Haus der Natur on the Feldberg, the interactive exhibition explains - with plenty of humour - why swimming is prohibited in the Feldsee and how winter sports and nature conservation go hand in hand. In the Feldberg Tower, the highest observation tower in the Black Forest, the Ham Museum takes you on a multimedia journey through time. The viewing platform of the Feldberg Tower is particularly enchanting when the visibility is clear.

Indoor activities for children can be found right here at our hotel on the Feldberg. From the trampoline park to the high ropes course at the 4,000 m² Fundorena - located just 50 metres from the hotel - families can enjoy action-packed hours indoors. The water parks are a special highlight in both winter and summer, ensuring a relaxing rest of the afternoon afterwards. This means that a holiday with children on the Feldberg remains a wonderful experience, even in foggy conditions.

Where’s the best place to stay?

If you want to visit as many attractions as possible in Feldberg and the surrounding area, it’s best to stay where they’re all concentrated. Our Feldberger Hof is situated at an altitude of around 1,300 metres, right next to the valley station of the Feldbergbahn. The Haus der Natur, the Wichtelpfad, the wooden ball track and the climbing forest are all within walking distance. To reach Feldsee, simply set off on the footpath right outside the front door; the journey to Titisee and the waterfalls takes 15 to 25 minutes. This saves on travel time and makes spontaneous outings with children on the Feldberg a breeze.

Further prices for the Feldberg Railway, such as for bringing a dog or a bicycle, can be found on the Feldberg Railway website. The railway runs from around May to early November (opening hours).

Yes, we have our own webcam here at the hotel with a view of the Feldberg. There are also several webcams on the Feldberg in the Black Forest, which show live weather conditions at the summit, on the Seebuck and at the ski lifts. It’s worth checking before your trip, as the view from the Feldberg Tower depends heavily on the weather conditions.
